All student employees are encouraged to meet with their manager and communicate their intentions to end student employment. Below are steps to guide you through the process.
- Notify your manager as soon as possible of your intentions to end employment. Work with your manager to determine your last day of work (graduating students, see below).
- Complete a Request for Final Payroll Check and submit the form to Human Resources. Graduating students should submit the request three days prior to graduation.
- Submit your hours at the end of your final shift.
- Managers will need to approve the hours before submitting a termination request in Workday.
Graduating Student Employees
The last day of employment for all graduating students is graduation day. Managers can request an extension for domestic students (see below). Each graduating student will need to follow the instructions above to end student employment.
The Request for Final Payroll Check must be submitted three days prior to graduation.
Graduating Domestic Student Employment Extension
Domestic students may legally work in a student employee position up to three weeks after graduation. To do this, managers must send a request to Kathleen Cowan at kathleen.cowan@byuh.edu and should explain their need for this extension.
Graduating International Student Employees
If you are leaving the island and closing a bank account, your last day of work should be three days prior to graduation. If you are not closing a bank account, you may work through graduation day.
