Employer Discretionary Retirement Contributions (EDRC)

Employees who were hired or became benefits-eligible on or after April 1, 2010 are eligible to participate in the Employer Discretionary Retirement Contributions (EDRC).

Vestment

Contributions to the EDRC begin immediately with employment. All funds in the account belong to the employee as soon as the contributions are made.

Contributions

The Employer Discretionary Retirement Contributions (EDRC) is an employer-only contribution plan through which BYU–Hawaii contributes a percentage of your eligible annual compensation into the account. BYU–Hawaii contributes a 3.5% equivalent of your compensation into the account each paycheck.

Preset Mixes

You can choose how your Employer Discretionary Retirement Contributions (EDRC) account balance is invested by choosing one of the five preset mixes offered by DMBA:

  • Stock Only: 12+ years
  • Long-term: 12+ years
  • Intermediate-term: 5 to 11 years
  • Short-term: 0 to 4 years
  • Current Income: 0 to 15 years
