Mission Statement:

Assist employees to resolve their Workers Compensation issues in a timely and efficient manner.

Goal:

Creating and maintaining an injury-free work environment for all University employees.

Purpose:

Provide the necessary resources in supporting University employees injured on the job both financially and medically as outlined in the State of Hawaii Workers Compensation Law manual. Our goal is to return injured University employees to full productive employment with minimal loss time and in helping establish and maintaining high morale in each department.

It is our goal to reduce expenses related to Workers Compensation claims by:

1.Educating all departments on pertinent issues regarding Workers Compensation claims:

a. Reporting of claims.
b. Claims investigation.
c. Follow up.

2. Provide proactive safety training for all employees in helping them understand that safety is both an individual and line management responsibility.

3. Working on effective return to work programs which involves employees, supervisors and health care providers.

4. Establishing lines of open communication with all parties involved in the work related injury.

5. Help build an atmosphere of genuine concern and support to all our employees and their departments.

6. Work with University established safety committees to discuss work related injuries on campus and evaluate current safety programs and methods for improvement. Initiating and setting up deadlines for pertinent changes to be made campus wide.
