Points of Interest
Return to Work:
Employees must have a physicians release before they may return
to regular work duties.
Light duty status:
If an employee is unable to return to regular work duties,
the supervisor will attempt to find light duty work for the
employee. This is only a temporary assignment until the attending
physician releases the employee back to regular duty.
Compensation:
Employees will be compensated for lost time from work. They
will be compensated at 66 2/3 percent of their regular wages.
Compensation will be paid out according to the BYUH regular
pay period schedule.
Disability begins the day after the initial injury. Employees
are paid for a full day of work on the day of injury. Compensation
begins after three days from the date of disability.
No deductions are made from the Workers Compensation check.
Therefore you are responsible to make the appropriate payments
for your medical insurance and any other obligations you may
have with the University.
Mileage Reimbursement:
You are entitled to mileage reimbursement when traveling long
distances to and from medical appointments. It is your responsibility
to bring in verification for your doctors visits to the
Workers Compensation office for reimbursement.
