Qualifications:
Bachelor's required. Masters in related field strongly preferred.
Five years of work-related experience.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Professional certifications preferred.
Excellent computer skills (PeopleSoft HRMS preferred), various other university data-base programs.
Strong counseling, negotiation and mediation skills.
Good presentation skills for training campus community.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws (e.g., FMLA, SERRA, Title VII, Title IX, ADA, ADEA, etc.)
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Directs, manages and coordinates the activities of ER/EEO managers, HR consultants, and TEP personnel. Manages the budgets and signs off on financial matters.
2. Hires qualified employees and coordinates their development and training.
3. Establishes internal procedures and guidelines. Prepare, review and edit university policies and procedures as necessary.
4. Assists campus-wide personnel (supervisors, employees, students) in problem solving as required. Provides coaching and training.
5. Consults with University General Counsel and other university officials in determining actions to be taken in the resolution of specific cases.
6. Negotiates settlement and severance agreements.
7. Represents the university at mediations, professional groups (e.g., Utah Higher Education Liaison Panel, the UALD, the Labor Commission) etc.
8. Supervises and coordinates the activities of the TEP.
9. Supervises and coordinates the activities of the Human Resources consultants in their various campus activities. Provides advice and assistance to them in regards to policy related and procedural problems and inquires.
10. Acts as a coach and advisor to employees and managers in ER/EEO situations.
11. Prepares and provides campus-wide training in ER/EEO areas (e.g. Legal Landmines, FMLA, and EEO)
